Hi Michael and Marvina,

I just stumbled across your blog, and I was intrigued by what I saw. I enjoy your insights, and it is strikingly similar in many ways to my own blog. I was recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, and subsequently started a blog about my own experience with it. I would love for you to check it out and let me know what you think, as I'm just getting started. The site is www.chemonottherapy.blogspot.com and it's called Chemo≠Therapy.

Happy posting,
Jon

My Dad recently had his bladder removed due to cancer, He had a renal ultrasound this week and his doc scheduled him for a loopagram next week. I found your site when I started to look for information on loopagram. Your discription made it very clear. Thank you.

Very helpful, Michael. Thank you very much for the info. My husband (H) is new to the urostomy pouch (6 months), after losing the bladder, prostate, and various glands. As he has some cognitive impairment, I am the one checking on things. Unlike you, he did not have any chemo or further treatment after the surgery. The loopagram is set for Sep. 10, after the 6-month kidney ultrasound showed some possible small problems in the kidneys. So it is a relief to know what to expect. Thank you. Susan

Your post reminds me of the story of an incredible man who I interviewed in my book Everything Changes: The Insider's Guide to Cancer in Your 20s and 30s.

At age 22, Geoff was diagnosed with cancer and learned he had six months to live. We often see the images of angelic cancer patients but he was far from it - a fallible kid, Geoff was a hardcore drug addict. His story traces how he and his parents dealt with his life choices and how his cancer motivated him to turn his life around and get clean. 13 years later he is both drug and cancer free. An inspirational story for tough times! Hang in there.

Best,

Kairol

Seriously? I would really love to get my hands on the person who said those things to you. Whoever it was doesn't have the brain God gave a crouton and that person is now firmly at the top of my "Bus List."

I understand sharing and empathizing; we all have horror stories to tell about things that we and our families and friends must endure, but really? They just HAD to share THAT at a time when hope is at a premium and hard to maintain? It just goes to show you that common sense is not all that common. Fucking people.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful words of kindness. Both Michael and I received great strength from them. The comments from someone who doesn't know us except through a post on a Blog reminds me that there are kind and loving people all around us.

Our deepest thanks, to you.
Marvina and Michael.
